Inspiration
Because calla lilies were popular during the art-deco era, the same style as our venue, I came up with a simple bouquet and centerpiece idea.
Low Centerpieces
These will go on our square tables.
1. Vases are from a wedding rental company going out of business that I found on Craigslist. $10 for 16 vases! 2. Mini calla lilies will be purchased from a wholesale flower market. We cut them to size and inserted 2 lilies into the vase. 3. We purchased black river rock from the Dollar Tree (1 pack will be enough for 3 vases), placed it in the vase, and then filled the vase about 1/3 of the way with water. 4. We spray painted 2 picture frames black, inserted our movie poster, and placed the frames back-to-back. 5. Candles are from Michael's. |
Tall Centerpieces
These will go on our round tables.
Steps: 1. 24"x6" cylinder vases are from Modern Vase and Gift. 2. Large calla lilies will also be purchased wholesale. You will want to cut the stem so there will be at least 2" left at the top of the vase once submerged - We found that the lily becomes longer and less curved as it stays submerged, so you don't want to risk it sticking out of the vase. 3. Using floral wire from the Dollar Tree, tightly wrap the bottom of the stem and then create a spiral base. 4. Insert the flower in the vase, then place river rock on top of the spiral base to secure the flower - Otherwise, the flower will float when submerged. 5. Fill with water. |
